GRACE, a parcel at my door step

“Grace”, is that not the girl with a shocking temper?” “She will roast us alive if she sees you again after knocking over her pot yesterday”. He whispered to his friend as they noticed her up the balcony.
“Oh yeah, I am really in for real trouble now. How on earth she earned her nice name?” “Her parents bargained well for it”. And they both broke out into laughter.

So why such remarks about the name Grace’? It is not just a girls’ name? In Biblical context, it stands for other things other than loveliness, or elegance (which appears to be what our dear sister is lacking in the eyes of those boys’).
Let me put it this way. It is a special kind of favour that God gives to man without merit or a price- it is free. It could also be translated into other gifts as infinite love, mercy and bountiful blessings. It comes without the work or effort of the receiver and yet gives inner strength, accomplishment, and profound joy. These are the manifestations of Grace. In three simple terms, this is how I see it.

Grace as an answer to prayer. The Grace of God is said to be upon an individual as we begin to witness the blessings in the forms of good things and special favours. We can then testify of their profound joy and in turn bless the name of God for those answers to their prayers.

Grace as an underserved favour is what most of us experience in our daily lives. Being aware of our many short comings and sins, our Father’s good will is indeed Grace accomplished in us. For this reason we say it is a free gift of God for what we deserved was “death” as a result of sin, not life.

Grace as source of strength in overcoming our trails and temptations. When we had thus overcome the fiery darts of the enemy, we experience that profound joy and victory. This is the kind of Grace we as end-time Christians need to pray constantly for. Not only that, but as children under the New Covenant, Grace becomes the key to our salvation.

The Apostle Paul said, we are redeemed by Grace and not works. He was very clear about what it was and was not. “…for ye are not under the law, but under grace. 15 What then? Shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Romans 6:14(KJV)

The fact is every one can obtain God’s Grace by asking in faith. He God gives freely to whom He pleases. This is true for both you and I. Grace is what we need to help us overcome our weaknesses, old habits and even difficult people.

Other truths about Grace: From Genesis to Revelations, God gave Grace to His people, (Gen 6:8); Grace came with other blessings,( Ps 84:11); Grace was given to specific areas of their lives (Prov 1:9) and Grace was not meant to be abused. (Gal 2:21). You can read the full summary on my personal Bible study on the topic at http://www.agapedivine.blogspot.com/

For you and I to remain strong, to continue in the good will of God, and ever prepared to defend our faith, Grace is what we need. Please join me to say this short prayer…

“Our Lord, it is Your Grace that abounds in my life today. May it bring the daily blessings, peace and fulfillment I so much desire? Thank You God for giving and I receive it with faith through our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen!

God bless you.
Shalom, peace.
